Last night we went to our first (and reportedly last) Garth Brooks concert! The original plan was for the two of us to drive out to Grand Forks to see him perform, until we learned that it conflicted with prior engagements we already had on the date he would be there. A few weeks later, Candace heard on the radio that he would now be coming to Winnipeg... and there was no way we'd be missing it this time! Her next move was to get a hold of Britany in extreme excitement, not only to tell her we were going, but she was taking her for her birthday. Britany, being the emotional one of us two, of course cried of happiness and accepted. The two of us have grown up listening to Garth Brooks ever since we can remember, so this was an absolutely HUGE night for us!

We were accompanied at the concert by two of our many best friends, Cynthia (left) along with her husband, and Natasha (right). If it wasn't for Cynthia, we wouldn't have been able to have the seats that we did, so for that - THANK YOU, a million times!! We all danced, drank, took pictures and sang together from the moment we got there, until the moment left. We are pretty sure there was a total of 5 minutes that we sat through the whole concert, and that was split up among bathroom breaks.

The night began with Brett Kissel as an opener, who sounded just as great live as he does on the radio. We were lucky to have him open for us, seen as he was only opening for two out of the four shows he did in Winnipeg. Brett did everything single handedly on his acoustic guitar, and did a fantastic job, he was the perfect addition to a perfect night. The second opener was a beautiful woman named Karyn Rochelle, who is actually a back up singer for Garth Brooks. She had such an amazing voice that carried throughout the entire MTS Centre, we believe in her dreams, and believe that one day she will be singing all night long, on her own tour!

Next was the moment we were all waiting for..

Garth Brooks finally came out!! He had the coolest entrance, where you saw only his shadow moving and singing - which got our hearts full out racing. All the lights came on, the music was LOUD and he started to sing his heart out. Everybody in the MTS Centre started to rawr so loud, its almost like the building was shaking, the feeling he had on stage must have been phenomenal. We had AMAZING seats, we could see him and the entire stage perfectly.

Listening to him sing moved everyone in the entire arena. When you looked around, all you could see were people either singing, dancing, crying, smiling from ear to ear, or everything at the same time! Nobody could control their emotions, every song meant something to you, and/or someone around you, and we're pretty sure that nobody in that building had a voice the next day. Just when we thought we were at the very peak of the concert, Trisha Yearwood made her way across the stage serenading all of us, and once again, the building went up in a rawr. The two of them sang together, and she also sang on her own - moving everyone to tears with "How do I live without you" and at the same time, having everyone up and dancing with "Shes in love with the boy" and more! They are just the most perfect couple in every way, we are beyond lucky to have been able to see them perform live together! Later on Garth sang "The Dance" in honour of his very close very friend (also his bass player on all his albums) who's funeral he had just attended that day, I think everybody was completely touched as we saw the tears roll down his face while remembering his friend. He said in an interview the next day that Winnipeg really helped to bring up his spirits, the people here just rescue you, from the second he came out of the "hole", we were all ready for him and it immediately made him ready for us. We feel so honoured to have been able to share this night with him.

We would never be able to sum our entire night into one word. Garth Brooks put on a hands down spectacular performance, and not only him, but all the performers, as well as his band. Everyone that was included in his show were full of so much energy, it made it so easy for all of us watching to feed off of it all night long. If we were able to - we would have gone to all four shows while he was here in Winnipeg. We leave this concert with hundreds of memories, made in just a few hours, sore ribs from laughter, sore cheeks from smiling, and no voices from singing and screaming. Thank you to the legend himself for a night that we will remember forever, and one of the best concerts we have ever been to!
